AI-Guided Load Development — From Setup to Range Day and Beyond
Already have prepped brass and established components? Expert Mode skips all 7 Brass Prep steps (LD-08 through LD-14) — reducing the workflow from 33 to 26 steps. Individual steps also have Expert Skip buttons for experienced reloaders who know their process. Novice Mode walks you through everything with educational guidance at each step.
Powerful AI that reads your actual project data — your brass dimensions, neck turning status, bushing sizes, and sizing die settings. Ask a bushing question and it recalculates based on YOUR turned neck thickness, not factory specs. Includes web search for real-time supplemental data.
Verified specifications for every cartridge: max case length, trim-to length, bullet/neck/base/rim/shoulder diameters, case capacity (gr H2O), max OAL, max pressure (PSI & Bar), common twist rates, parent case, designer, effective range, and common bullet weights.
Proven component combinations organized by discipline (Benchrest, F-Class, PRS, Hunting, ELR). Each includes brass, primer, bullet, and powder picks with min/max charge weights. Accept a recommendation and it pre-populates your entire project.
Record COAL-to-lands and CBTO-to-lands with multiple measurement methods. Track baseline vs. current measurements, compute freebore change over time, and monitor barrel round count at each measurement — your throat erosion history in one place.
Track brass, bullets, primers, and powder with lot numbers, purchase prices, quantity alerts, and supplier info. Bullet entries include weight, diameter, type, G1/G7 BC, sectional density, and length. Powder entries track burn rate category and suitable calibers.
Database of trusted online reloading dealers with brand-specific filtering — only shows dealers that actually carry the brand you selected. Automated search URL generation per dealer for your specific component. Includes free hazmat shipping flags.
40+ embedded expert knowledge entries seeded at first launch — not random tips, but focused expertise for competitive and hunting reloaders. Safety rules (SAAMI-sourced), best practices (shoulder bump, neck tension, annealing schedules, charge increments), troubleshooting guides (primer diagnosis, vertical stringing, random flyers), formulas (MOA, twist rate stability, CBTO relationships), and caliber-specific proven load data for today’s most popular Benchrest, F-Class, PRS, ELR, and Hunting cartridges including 6mm PPC, 6mm BR, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, 7mm PRC, .223 Rem, 30 BR, and more.

Photograph. Calibrate. Measure. — 14+ Statistics Per Group
Tap two points on any target at a known distance apart. The system calculates a precise pixels-per-inch scale factor, converting your phone camera into a measurement instrument. Full pinch-to-zoom with InteractiveViewer for sub-pixel placement.
Tap to place shot impacts rendered at actual bullet-diameter scale (calibrated to your cartridge). Drag to reposition with a magnifier loupe for fine adjustment. Undo/redo support. Each shot is tracked as X/Y coordinates in real-world inches relative to calibration.
Every group is analyzed with 14+ measurements: Group Size (Extreme Spread CC), MOA, MIL, Mean Radius, CEP (Circular Error Probable — 50% hit probability radius), Radial SD, Horizontal SD, Vertical SD, Horizontal Spread, Vertical Spread, Group Centroid (X,Y), POA Offset (windage & elevation — tells you exactly how far to adjust your scope), and a Quality Score.
Computes windage (X) and elevation (Y) offset from your Point of Aim. Know exactly how many clicks to adjust before your next group — not a guess, a measurement.
Generates full iPhone Pro Max resolution (1290×2796) share images with annotated target overlay, shot circles, extreme spread line, statistics box, and Choice Tactical branding. Ready for social media, match records, or your reloading journal.
Every measurement — group size, vertical/horizontal spread, mean radius, CEP, radial SD, POA offset, and overlay images — flows directly to BallisticPlotter via App Groups. No screenshots, no manual entry, no transcription errors.
Photograph all 10 targets from a powder charge ladder or neck tension test. Mark every shot. All 14+ statistics per group flow into a single BallisticPlotter project where the scoring engine ranks every charge node, generates a velocity chart with error bars and trend lines, computes a confidence score, and routes the results directly into PrecisionLoad for your next step.

Deterministic Scoring Engine — No AI Guessing, No Black Box
Every charge group gets a 0–100 composite score using locked, transparent weights. Vertical dispersion is 40% because it's the #1 predictor of a true node. No machine learning, no hidden variables — you can verify every score yourself.
The engine doesn't just say "this charge is best" — it tells you why. Each ranked candidate is annotated with specific codes: BEST_VERTICAL, TIGHT_GROUP, GOOD_CHRONO, ROUND_GROUP. Runner-ups show BETTER_VERTICAL_THAN_WINNER or BETTER_CHRONO_THAN_WINNER so you understand the trade-offs.
Coarse sweep: 5 offsets at 0.010" increments. Engine identifies the best zone. Fine sweep: 5 offsets at 0.002" centered on the best coarse result. Measurement-agnostic — uses thousandths offset from baseline, works with COAL or CBTO.
Flags abnormal velocity jumps >50 fps between adjacent charge weights with specific warnings like “CHRONO_SPIKE_41.0_TO_41.5_DELTA_65FPS” — potential pressure indicators that demand attention before continuing.
Based on confidence score and warning flags, the engine routes PrecisionLoad to the exact right next step: pressure evaluation if warnings detected, charge selection if confidence ≥75%, or extended testing if more data is needed. Pre-fills the next screen with recommended charges, alternates, and rationale.
Create a project, define your test parameters, enter all shot groups with chronograph data, and get a complete analysis — all in one place. Results feed directly into PrecisionLoad for next-step routing.
Define start/end charge weights and increment (e.g., 40.0–45.0 gr in 0.5 gr steps). Enter velocities for every shot in every group. The engine scores all 10 charge nodes, ranks them, identifies the optimal charge window, and feeds the winner into PrecisionLoad with alternates and rationale.
Hold charge weight constant and vary neck tension across groups. Same scoring engine, same velocity chart, same confidence-based routing. Isolates the effect of neck tension on ES, SD, and vertical dispersion so you know exactly which bushing or mandrel delivers the tightest velocity spread.
Lock in your optimal charge and sweep seating depths — coarse pass at 0.010" increments, then fine pass at 0.002" centered on the best coarse result. Uses thousandths offset from baseline so it works with COAL or CBTO. Two-phase design finds the exact seating sweet spot.
After entering your data, view a publication-quality velocity chart that shows the full picture of your ladder test. Pinch-to-zoom from 0.5× to 4× magnification. Export as high-resolution PNG and share.
Each component uses inverse-proportion scoring: 100 / (1 + value × k). Smaller measurements = higher scores.
| Component | Weight | What It Measures | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vertical Dispersion | 40% | verticalInches | The #1 predictor of a true charge node — vertical stringing means velocity variation |
| Group Size | 25% | groupSizeInches (extreme spread CC) | Overall group tightness — what most shooters measure at the range |
| Mean Radius | 15% | meanRadiusInches | Average tightness from centroid — less sensitive to single outliers than ES |
| Geometry Quality | 10% | min(H,V) / max(H,V) | Group roundness — 1.0 = perfect circle, low = stringing in one axis |
| Chrono Support | 10% | SD (fps) & ES (fps) | Velocity consistency — neutral if no chrono data (never penalizes missing data) |
60% — Absolute quality of top candidate's composite score
30% — Separation gap between #1 and #2 (clear winner = high confidence)
10% — Data completeness (missing groups, low marking confidence penalized)
Pressure warnings detected → Pressure Evaluation (LD-21). Confidence ≥75% → Select Optimal Charge (LD-22). Otherwise → Extended Group Testing (LD-25) with top 3 candidates and recommended shot count.
Confidence ≥75% → Select Optimal Charge (LD-22) with pre-filled recommendation. Otherwise → Stay on LD-25, tighten test with refined candidates and increased shot count (20→30).
Always loops back to LD-23 for fine sweep — 5 offsets at 0.002" increments centered on the best coarse offset.
Confidence ≥75% → Extended Group Testing (LD-25) with refined seating depth. Otherwise → Re-test LD-23 with shifted baseline.
